Old Scratch Restaurant Review: Dayton Pizza Joint

Old Scratch Restaurant Review: Dayton Pizza Joint

While visiting Dayton, OH I couldn’t pass up a highly recommended pizza joint! Pizza is for sure in my top 3 favorite foods. A GOOD pizza may be #1 but not all pizza’s are made the same unfortunately. So when someone recommended Old Scratch and I saw that it had great reviews on Google we decided to give it a try!

The Atmosphere

First of all, do you know what Old Scratch means? Old Scratch is another name for the devil. With this being a wood fire oven pizza place I love the reference to fire & the devil!

It wasn’t over bearing, honestly if you didn’t know what Old Scratch meant you might not notice. But once you start to see the devil’s tails and flame references throughout the store it is so neat!

The front of the building has large garage like doors that come up in the summer connecting indoor seating to outdoor seating seamlessly. This is a feature I love in many restaurants and was excited to have the open building!

The Food

I of course ordered pizza and got a custom pizza but basically a Margherita pizza. I got pepperoni, basil, and feta cheese on a personal pizza with marinara and cheese.

Tyrell got the Italian sandwich which comes with Salami, mortadella, prosciutto, provolone, lettuce with house dressing inside of a pita bread! He loves sandwiches so this was right up his alley.

The pizza was AMAZING! Like I could literally eat that pizza every day. The crust was just the right amount of crispy and fluffy. I was so pleased and so glad we went to try this place!

Tyrell loved his sandwich as well. He said that it was heavy on the lettuce and with the pita bread it was the perfect light sandwich that didn’t make him feel too full or uncomfortable after eating. We all know what a heavy greasy sandwich is like so this is an awesome light and healthier option!

Was it Worth it?

In case you can’t tell, YES! If you are in the Dayton area I 100% recommend you go try this place. We seriously want to go back and we don’t even live there. It would probably be dangerous if we lived closer because we would eat there all the time lol.

I am a sucker for good pizza and an open building in the summer time. It was a fun atmosphere and delicious food. What more do you want?!
