One Day in Columbus, OH

One Day in Columbus, OH

Ohio has always been a state that we love and we keep coming back to. Every city we visit has it’s own fun thing about it and Columbus was no different! I could have stayed there forever, but since we only had one day we made the most of it!

This is what we chose to do with our one day in Columbus, OH

Topiary Park

We started off the morning grabbing some coffee and walking around Topiary Park. This was such a cool place full of shrubs in all sorts of amazing designs! I feel like this is not something you would see everywhere but Columbus has it all.

There are picnic benches to stop at and enjoy the view and a trail that goes around the park. Make sure to stop at the “As He Saw It” mark to know how the artist intended the park to look!

Neighborhood Scoping

Next up we went for a drive through some of the most popular neighborhoods on Zillow. This might just be something we are into but we love seeing how locals live and where they live. I always spend like half my vacations on Zillow finding out what rent/home buying is like and what neighborhoods are recommended for families or young singles or whatever!

We first checked out Bexley and it was SO nice! Like if you are a young family looking to start your life, move here. It was gorgeous and the homes were smaller but so cute. Then we headed over to Grandview Heights which is honestly a place we could see ourself living. Like full of young people and start up homes. This was our vibe.

The third place that was recommended a lot was Upper Arlington. It was absolutely gorgeous here but not quite our vibe. IT was a little too family oriented and seemed like just way out of our league. Super cool to check out though!

Columbus Park of Roses

Around this time we were hungry and ready for some lunch. We mostly ate sandwiches for lunch on this road trip so we found a park to head to and have a little picnic!

Park of Roses is unlike any rose garden I have ever been to. I am pretty positive that it has every single type of rose in existence and they are all labeled perfectly for you to see.

We ended up walking through this park for quite a while just admiring the beauty of it! There was even a wedding going on there which was so awesome to see. I can see why people would want to get married in such a gorgeous location!

German Village/Brewery District

Next up we decided to walk around a few parts of town that Pinterest told me were neat. We checked out German Village & the Brewery District which are very close together.

Both parts of town had a distinct charm about them which I loved! German Village had so many restaurants and shops and it smelled AMAZING. Brewery District had, well, breweries! One reason we love Ohio is for all the breweries so it was right up our alley.

North Market

Next up we went to North Market! We love a good market area in any city we visit so we couldn’t pass this one up. This was seriously one of the most well organized and cleanest markets I’ve ever been to!

I could honestly see myself shopping there all the time for groceries if we lived in the area. Even for visitors it has so many unique things to offer! I wanted to try every single food place we walked by and that does not happen at every market.

Short North

Time for my favorite thing we did in Columbus. Short North is THE place you need to check out. It has a night life that just made my heart happy. It was totally my scene, my vibe, my esthetic, everything. We got there and pu our names in at The Eagle and had about an hour wait so we decided to walk around.

There was so much to do and see! It was maybe a half a mile or mile long stretch of road full of bars and restaurants and shops. Like the clubs were popping and there were so many people in their twenties and thirties just thriving. This was my place. These are my people.

Our food there was amazing, the bartenders were so kind, and the atmosphere was fantastic. For a full restaurant review of The Eagle you’ll have to check out my other post here. But just take my word, it was amazing.

Conclusion

If you are going to spend just one day in Columbus, OH you will not be bored. The only disappointing thing will be that you don’t have more time! Short North is a MUST. Topiary Park and Park of Roses are must sees. And the food there is amazing.

I hope that if you check it out you enjoy Columbus as much as we did!
