7 Best Activities to do in Pittsburg

Three Rivers Trail

This trail runs along the river through the downtown area of Pittsburg. It is lined with restaurants and shops along the way. The view of the city is everything you’d want! In many ways it reminded me of the River Walk in San Antonia, TX which is one of my all time favorite places!

Randyland

Unfortunately, we were not able to visit Randyland as it was under construction during our time in Pittsburg. I still wanted to include it on this list however because so many people recommended it to us! Think of it as a piece of art, an art gallery, or a museum but one thing for sure is it is a one of a kind attraction!

Located on the outskirts of the city it is a bright and colorful building full of art and fun. It is a place to let loose and enjoy yourself. It also makes for an awesome Instagram photo-op!

Schenley Park

There is something about getting lost in the wilderness in the middle of a concrete jungle. I felt the same way as I explored Central Park years ago. Tyrell and I actually almost got lost in Schenley park due to its massive size and the thick trees! Luckily, we found our way back to the car.

I’ve heard rumors about a treehouse in the park but was unable to find it! Probably because we really had no idea where we were going but we had so much fun!

Monogahela Incline

This passenger cart up Mount Washington is one of the coolest things I’ve seen! The incline here is STEEP and the ride up and down provide fantastic views of the entire city!

It drops you right in the heart of the city at the bottom or provides one of the best view points at the top. No matter which direction you are heading it is worth the ride!

The Point

This state park right along the river is probably the place I’d spend all my time if I lived here. The river breeze cools you down in the heat of summer and the large fountain right at the point is beautiful!

We sat here for hours watching boats go by and people swim in the water. Next time we go back here I also want to order a party boat and have some fun!

This park has some food carts, benches, views, walking paths, and grassy areas to play in. Perfect for people of all ages!

The Church Brew Works

Want a dining experience unlike anything you’ve ever experienced? Look no further than Brew Works. This old church building turned brewery is absolutely captivating!

Majority of the architecture is left from the original church building. The stain glass windows, original pews, lanterns, and floors are just a few of the aspects that were kept in it’s original form!

It may seem wrong to brew beer in a house of worship, but this renovation saved this historic building! You have to appreciate the attention to detail and they way in which they honor the original building.

Canton Avenue

Okay this is totally a random and off the beaten path attraction that I just thought was so neat! Canton Avenue is the steepest publicly recorded street in the US. How cool is that?!

It is a short street but man is it a steep incline! Obviously we had to walk up it just to say we had walked the steepest street. Pittsburg is known for its steep streets and they actually have a bike race called the Dirty Dozen in which you bike up the 12 steepest streets in the city!

I’d love to go during this race and see all the bikers make it up these inclines! This is for sure a unique aspect of Pittsburg and just another reason to return!
