Buy Fresh Coffee

Coffee that has been left open will begin to lose some of the notes of flavor and can end up tasting very different when it begins to go stale. Fresh coffee will taste completely different and have a lot more flavor. Coffee beans are at their best for about two or three weeks. Once they’ve been ground, keep them in an airtight container, because the coffee only has about thirty minutes of peak flavor after you open the packet. Buy fresh coffee with a roasting date on the bag. If you struggle to get through coffee quick enough, try a coffee subscription service to have small amounts of quality, fresh coffee delivered to your home every month.

Buy A Coffee Grinder

Pre-ground coffee loses its freshness very quickly. To keep your coffee at its best for longer and to make strong coffee the right way, buy whole beans and a coffee grinder for your home. Grind only the beans you need just before you make a pot or a cup of coffee. You’ll get the most flavor by doing this, and the beans will last longer than grounds, as they oxidize more slowly than grounds.

Check Your Water

The water that you use can make a big difference to the taste of your cup of coffee. If you live in a hard water area, this can mute the natural flavors in the coffee.

Purified water is the best option, so you could invest either in a filter tap or a filter jug that you use for the water to make coffee.

Brew Coffee Manually

Drip coffee pots are popular because they’re usually affordable, but they don’t make very good coffee. Good coffee machines make much better coffee but they do come at a higher price point. Manual options, like a french press or an Aeropress, are a happy medium. They’re pretty affordable but still make good quality, delicious coffee.

The bonus of a manual brewing method is that you get more control over the finished cup. You can change the brewing time, the amount of coffee you put in, and how fast you pour the water. You get a better quality drink, made just the way you like it, and a nice coffee ritual as you make you drink.

Keep Your Coffee Equipment Clean

Dirty equipment will make bad coffee. If you own a coffee machine, make sure to give it a full clean on a regular basis and clean it thoroughly to keep it in the best condition and making delicious coffee. Get a dedicated coffee cleaner to run through your machine or coffee pot, or to soak your equipment gear in.
