5 Best Roadside Attractions

5 Best Roadside Attractions

The quintessential American road trip makes me think of the world’s largest ball of rubber bands! Or America’s largest cup of yogurt! You get my point. Roadside attractions are some of the best and weirdest pieces to a good old fashioned road trip.

There are so many cool things to see in this country and we were lucky enough to see many of them during our time road tripping the states! There are also SO many more that we have not seen yet but I hope to continue finding them!

We mostly used the Roadtrippers app and recommendations from friends to see the attractions we did. Out of all the ones we went to, these were definitely my top 5!

Cadillac Ranch

One of my all time top favorite roadside attractions ever! I truly don’t think anything will ever top this. Cadillac Ranch is literally a row of Cadillacs out in the middle of no where Texas (outside Amarillo) and you can spray pain them! That’s right, you can spray paint the cars anything you want. There is even a little stand near it selling spray paint. What a genius business plan, am I right?!

It literally makes you feel like a kid again. And there are always dozens of people out there also spray painting the cars. It is fun and creative and so unique! It reminded me of painting the spirit rock at my high school kind of! Overall I 10 out of 10 recommend.

Largest pair of legs

Right down the road for Cadillac Ranch is a weird and awesome giant pair of legs. Why? The real question is.. why not?! This is what I’m talking about guys! I love the strong and weird and random things you can find in the middle of no where.

Car Henge

We’ve all heard of Stonehenge. But have you heard of Carhenge? It is cars stacked and shaped like Stonehenge in the middle of NEBRASKA! Let’s be clear, Nebraska was one of my least favorite states but this made it worth the visit. Definitely something everyone should visit at least once!

Center of America

Okay, before everyone jumps down my throat I understand that this isn’t the true center of America because everyone has differing opinions on what is considered the center. But, this is where the plaque is!

If you are an American, the center of America is definitely a cool place to check out. The visitor center here has some neat geographical information and it is sort of surreal to imagine being the in center of the country you live in.

Devil’s Tower

I understand that this is technically a National Monument but unless you are climbing it, I don’t think it requires more than an hour or two. But that being said, it is such an awesome place that everyone should see! Truly one of those natural wonders that just goes beyond your expectations.

BONUS

Historic Route 66

This also is not exactly a roadside attraction and there are many places to stop along it! We saw quite a bit of Old Route 66 but my favorite part of it was in Amarillo. But no matter where you are, I highly recommend stopping to appreciate this once booming Highway!
