Recently a new ice cream parlor opened up in Salt Lake City at The Gateway Mall! Sweet Rolled Tacos might not scream ice cream but it is! The concept is rolled ice cream in a waffle cone shaped like a taco shell. Tacos and ice cream? You bet we had to try it!
At first I was a little skeptical because I don’t like things that are too sweet. I thought for sure this crazy idea was over the top! But after trying it.. I have a new perspective!
The Shop
From the moment you walk up to this place you know you could spend an afternoon there. It is so cute and inviting! The wall is painted with the cutest SLC backdrop and the signs are amazing. It is literally an instagram dream!
Every single person there was so friendly and wonderful. They recommend flavors that they knew we would love after asking us a few questions and encourage you to watch your creation be made!
The decor and atmosphere is definitely a 10/10
The Ice Cream
There were 3 of us that tried it and we ordered two tacos to share. They are pretty large so it was plenty for the three of us! But also, I could totally eat one by myself!
The first flavor we got was fruity pebble ice cream with cotton candy whipped cream and candy on top! We got this one in the blue shell. I personally thought this one was way too sweet. However, it tasted EXACTLY like fruity pebbles! And my little cousin loved it. This is the one I would recommend for kids!
We also got a coconut charcoal ice cream. It was flavored with real coconut shavings, had whipped cream on top, and edible gold flakes! This one we got in the red shell. Visually, it was a masterpiece! I have always been fascinated by the black charcoal ice cream. Not only was it delicious, but I wanted to stare at it all day!
Overall we rate the ice cream flavors 9/10.
Recommendations
All 3 of us that went would 100% recommend this parlor to others! It is a little bit pricier than some shops but so worth it for the experience. And the location and vibe are just too good to pass up!
They have a few locations throughout Utah and California. I hope they keep growing and open up more across the US! If you have one near you, I highly recommend checking them out!
