We all know that fruit is good for us. And yet, we sometimes go through our lives as if it doesn’t exist. The majority of our calories come from refined oils, sugars, dairy, and meat. Fruit barely gets a mention.

It’s not that fruit tastes horrible – it doesn’t. And it has nothing to do with availability either – you can get fresh fruit just about anywhere.

The problem is that we get into bad habits. We replace the fruit that would have been in our diet with less healthy alternatives. And it’s hurting us.

Fortunately, there are a bunch of methods that you can use to eat more fruit, some of them a little stranger than others!

Gobble Your Fruit In The Morning

Waking up to a big bowl of fruit might sound like a strange idea if you’re used to cereal in the morning, but it works.

Why?
Two reasons:

  1. You’re always more motivated to eat healthier in the morning than in the evening.
  2. Your body wants sugar more in the morning than at night

Starting early with fruit to your diet can make a massive difference in your overall well-being. It provides loads of nutrients and sets you up for the day.

Get Frozen Fruit

Don’t believe the myths about frozen fruit. It’s just as good for you as the regular stuff.

The reason is pretty simple. Vendors usually freeze frozen produce at the source, meaning that the nutrients don’t have any time to break down. In many ways, it might be better for you than standard fresh produce that’s been sitting on supermarket shelves for a couple of days.

Make It Tastier

You don’t have to eat fruit by itself. There are all sorts of other ingredients you can add to make it tastier.

Learning a cream cheese fruit dip recipe, for instance, could be the best thing you ever did to encourage yourself to eat more papaya, pineapple, or whatever else takes your fancy.

Dessert is a weird thing, right? Even when you think you’re full from your main course, you still find room for sweets.

Topping up your meals with sugary desserts, though, isn’t exactly the healthiest habit in the world. However, making fruit your dessert can be a great way to improve your diet while also increasing how much you consume.

Pureed fruits aren’t quite as good for you as eating them in their whole form, but they still provide you with massive nutrition. What’s more, when you blend fruits into a smoothie, you smash the hard outer cellulose shell of individual cells in the plant, increasing nutrient availability.

If you decide to drink your fruit, get your smoothies in the morning. Stick with the whole plant food in the evening.

Put Fruit In Your Lunchbox The Night Before

Lastly, you can increase your fruit consumption by putting it in your lunchbox the night before. Adding it ahead of time means that you won’t skip it in the morning before you leave the house.
