3 Activites to try in Sunriver, Oregon with kids!

I love traveling and I want to instill that wanderlust into my children, so I choose to travel with my toddler who is under two! I found these 3 inexpensive things to do in Sunriver, Oregon with kids before our last trip, and my son loved them!

If you are anything like me as a mom, you’re constantly searching things to do in the cities you travel to with your kiddos. But we can’t forget it’s our vacation too! What can we do with our children that us adults will fully enjoy as well? On my last trip to Sunriver I found plenty to do for all ages to enjoy!

Snowshoeing

On our first full day of vacation we went snowshoeing. Osprey Packs Poco AG Plus Child Carrier that my son loves to ride in. The weather was perfect. In fact we were so hot we took off our coats! We rented our snow shoes from a place in The Village for ten dollars for 3 hours, if you want 24 hours it’s 20. If your child is big enough to walk on their own they do also have child sizes for rent.

After renting we took a short ten minute drive to the Dechutes River right on the edge of the national forest and started our trek. Seriously, the scenery was unreal! We took a nice long walk along the river, then had a race in an open area of the forest. We even saw a pack of coyotes/ wolves depending on who in the group you ask. 😉

Sledding

About a 20 minute drive from Sunriver we found Wanoga Snow Park. It was free to sled! We had brought our own tubes, but the same place we rented snowshoes also had sleds available. You will have to walk to the top yourself there is no magic carpet or rope tow.

Be sure to check the snow conditions because you won’t want to sled with kiddos if it’s icy!

Ice skating

Right in the middle of the village is the ice skating rink! Fully covered by a tent, this is even a good activity for when the weather isn’t great! Kids under 4 are free with a paying adult! And if you want you can rent them a walker for 5 dollars. I highly recommend it.

Across the walkway is Goody’s, a chocolate and ice cream shop. They had wonderful ice cream! Why not give the kids some sugar if they are going to wear themselves out anyway!?
