When on vacation I love to go to new restaurants, parks, zoos and I especially love aquariums. I’m a little to scared to go snorkeling so I love the dry version of seeing what lies beneath the water. On my last vacation we went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport, Oregon. This was a spectacular aquarium I would totally visit again!

Have you been to any awesome Aquariums I should check out? Let me know in the comments below!

-Enjoy!♥

The parking lot at the Oregon Coast Aquarium is huge and free so don’t worry about parking! Tickets for the aquarium were cheaper than most of the Aquariums I have been to; Adults are $22.95, kids under 3 free, and other children 12 and under $14.95. They also offer a senior discount, and young adult discount (13-17).

5 Things to keep in mind

  1. The exhibits are half located inside and half outside. Bring sunscreen for the kiddos and a jacket if it is breezy! (It usually is on the Oregon Coast)
  2. They have a small kids play area to get rid of some of that built up energy!
  3. They have a small cafe on the inside that has everything from a pretzel to fish tacos!
  4. There are different talks and feedings in the exhibits that go on at different times of the day. They are posted when you first walk past the ticket counter.
  5. It is a LARGE aquarium. I would recommend a stroller for the small kiddos.

My Favorite exhibits were the seals, of course, the jellyfish and the touch pool! At the seal exhibit there is a below water and above water viewing. This is one of the exhibits that has a feeding time! Get there early to get a front row spot!

The jelly fish are in a dark room with backlights so you can see them perfectly. I loved watching my son run from tank to tank screaming “WOAHHHH!” It was an amazing room to sit in and watch! Take your time in here!

The touch pool was in the next room from the jelly fish. You can touch star fish, anemones and a few others! A great one for the kids and even you, if you are brave enough to touch! I was not!!! However, my son loved it!

They save the best for last! The shark room. They even have a program called Sleep with the Sharks where you get to stay the night in the shark tunnels! I didn’t do this but I would really like to go back and do it! After the sharks is the gift shop. Don’t forget to grab a sample of fudge on the way out!
