How to Plan the Perfect New York Proposal!

How to Plan the Perfect New York Proposal!

I don’t care who you are, every little kid imagines their wedding day by age 5. By the time I was 9 years old it was my engagement day I was planning. It was shortly after my dad took me to Europe for the first time and during a layover in New York City I saw a Tiffany & Co store for the first time. It was so large and extravagant. I remember walking down a dirty city street but all of a sudden there was a little window with the most beautiful display of diamond rings. How could every little girl not want that to be on her finger one day?!

Over the next 15 years I became even more obsessed with Tiffany & Co. I watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s 10,000 times. When in college, I studied their advertising for my mass comm class. As an adult I began buying myself jewelry from there whenever I could afford it! It came as no surprise to anyone when I made the bold statement that I refused to get engaged until Tyrell could afford to buy me a Tiffany’s engagement ring. And 7 years after we started dating, he made that dream come true.

Not only did he make my dream of receiving a Tiffany’s engagement ring come true but he surpassed my highest expectations of what a proposal should be. If he isn’t a keeper, no one is. But he didn’t pull off the best engagement ever on his own! He had some help from a proposal planning company out of New York City. And I am here to tell you all about how he found them!

Choosing the company

After extensive research, Tyrell had narrowed it down to a handful of proposal planning companies in the New York City area. He soon realized that not all of them included the proposal and a photographer meaning that he would have to hire two separate people. Finally, he came across Paparazzi Proposals. This company is nation-wide, featured on Shark Tank, and included the proposal AND a photographer!

Picking the proposal

The great thing about Paparazzi Proposals is that they have a wide array of proposal ideas and locations for you to choose from. They had a roof top proposal, a boat tour, a horse drawn carriage, and of course the Central Park picnic which he ended up choosing. If you knew Tyrell and I, you would know that this is something that was perfect for both of us! Tyrell loves picnics and I love Central Park. After 7 years he had a pretty good idea of the things I wanted in my proposal but to be honest, he knocked this one out of the park.

The best part about Paparazzi Proposals is that they take every thing into consideration so you don’t have to. They immediately contacted him about a back up location in case the weather wouldn’t cooperate. And they have such a large base that when our photographer had a last minute family emergency they had another one on standby that was right there when the moment happened! They are very professional and we HIGHLY recommend them to everyone!

What was included in the proposal

The proposal package included the photographer from Paparazzi Proposals and a picnic from Perfect Picnic. The picnic he chose for us included baguette sandwiches, a cheese and fruit platter, a Mediterranean salad, champagne, and dessert! And the food was absolutely delicious! By far the best picnic food I have ever had. And they not only set up the entire picnic with a blanket, pillows, umbrellas, the basket, and roses but they also clean it up! When was the last time someone cleaned up after us? It was luxurious!

The photographer from Paparazzi Proposal not only captures the moment of the proposal from a bystanders view but then you get a one hour photo session with them! So not only did we get pictures of the question, but we got engagement photos done that day as well! Honestly, it could not have been more perfect. I will always treasure those photographs that we were able to capture the day of our engagement. And what better location to get engagement pictures done than in the middle of Central Park?

Planning the day

Tyrell’s part of the planning was easy. He contacted them to let them know what he wanted and to pay for the services, and then they pretty much take over. He had to stay in contact with them during the weeks leading up but only to confirm location, times, and food choices. The day of his only job was to send a picture of the two of us to the photographer so they knew who to look for and show up to the set location at a set time. Other than that, they took care of everything!

Now, I don’t want you to think that he couldn’t have done all of this on his own. I have faith that he could have made it just as phenomenal by himself. But why, when there are such amazing companies out there to help you with this already stressful and intense day? The nerves and excitement alone are going to stress a person out so why worry about all the details when someone else can do that for you? We are so thankful for Paparazzi Proposals and Perfect Picnic for making this day one we will never forget.

So ladies, drop some hints to your partner and make sure they know that the perfect proposal doesn’t have to be stressful! They might need some help, and that is okay!

  1. That sounds like a beautiful engagement, congratulations! All women hope this moment will be captured on camera, so whah a neat company to offer an entire proposal package like this!

  2. I love the fantasy and living vicariously through this! But at 5 i was anything but that little girl planning her wedding. I didnt really start planning anything in my head until pinterest came along at age 26 other than cakes and desserts! I was never a bride for halloween or a scrapbook maker or anything. I didn’t care enough.
On the other hand, I sometimes wish my proposal was something more special. It was just rushed out in my livingroom after 11pm one night. No real romance. but i wouldnt find this romantic either because we’ve never gone on a picnic nor would he enjoy photos being taken! I cant win!

    1. Well the important thing is finding something that makes both of you happy! The great thing about this company is that they really do offer plans for everyone! And you can even do a custom idea and they do all the work to put it together. 🙂 So if you ever need a proposal planner in the future you could have anything special that you wanted! 🙂
