Favorite Christmas Traditions

As we begin our own families we get to start our own family traditions. I hold Christmas very dear to my heart because it was always a happy time during my childhood. I was so excited to start my own family Christmas Traditions. Here are some of my favorites I amok sure to do every year!

Holiday Baking

I love making holiday cookies and candies. It’s a fun activity for kids to participate in as well. I loved this recipe for Christmas Crack that I made this year. A Simple and scrumptious homemade gift to give out!

Christmas Cards

Since we have had my son I try to send out cards to family with a photo of my son. This is a great way to send updates of your kids to distant relatives. A simple way to let people know you are thinking of them during the holiday season!

Pet Photo with Santa

Check with your local mall to see which night is pet night! We have gotten some great photos! My son also thought it was hilarious we took our dogs to the mall! These nights are usually busy, bring distractions for the pet and kids!

Playing Santa

My parents always played off Santa so effortlessly. I never suspected they could have ever been Santa! They would leave cookie crumbs next to a note from Santa that contained a clue to a treasure hunt to a present from him! I loved this treasure hunt every year! I can’t wait to do this for my kids one day! My son is only 2 1/2 so maybe in a few years!

Yummy simple homemade sausage gravy recipe for biscuits and gravy! This recipe is perfect for the meat lover!

Christmas Breakfast

Christmas breakfast has been the same since I was young: Quiche and for the adults mimosas. My husband isn’t a quiche fan so it looks like I might have to change up this tradition. Any suggestions of a good Christmas morning go to food? I was thinking about Biscuits and Gravy. Yum! What does your family eat? Let me know in the comments below.

Opening Presents Christmas Eve

Every Christmas Eve we would go to my grandma’s house and open presents. Now that we don’t live in a city with my child’s grandparent, I love the idea of opening one present on Christmas Eve. Maybe a movie, game for the family or new Pajamas for everyone! Anyone else do this Christmas Tradition?

Stockings First

Christmas morning went in the same order every year Breakfast, Stockings then the presents under the tree. Doing everything the same year after year kept me and my sister very excited for all the activities int he day.

Dinner

Christmas Eve dinner was spent with my immediate family. I remember eating many different things throughout the years, but my favorite was Lasagna. YUMMY! Christmas day dinner was often spent with Aunts and Uncles, sometimes cousins. I remember Prime Rib, Ham or Turkey and the most delicious pies! My Aunt makes the most amazing melt in your mouth pie crust!
