For years I have dreamed about the day I would finally attend a Corgi Beach Day with my corgi, Minnie Mouse. This year it finally happened! Oregon Corgi Beach Day was the best day I have ever had on the Oregon Coast! The best part was that it was a fund raiser benefitting the Oregon Humane Society. So all you corgi lovers out there find your nearest Corgi Beach Day and get out there to the fun!
Rewind a couple of years… in high school I always dreamed of owning my own corgi. Well February 26th, 2014 my dream came true! I had my very own AKA registered corgi who I named Princess Minnie Mouse. Soon my Facebook notifications were filled with friends and family tagging me in corgi videos and memes! One day my friend tagged me in a video named Corgi Beach Day! This one was out on the East Coast, so a little unrealistic for me to go to with my travel anxiety ridden pup. I was determined to find one that I could attend.
Fast forward to summer last year. We were living in Idaho, but had plans to move to Eugene, Oregon on August 31st. A client at work tells me about Oregon Corgi Beach Day!!! Yay finally a Corgi Beach Day that was realistic for me to go to! I look it up and its July 30th!! Ugh this meant I had to wait a whole year since we were just barely missing it! Let me tell you, that year was well worth the wait!
Oregon Corgi Beach Day 2017
July 29th, 2017 Cannon Beach, Oregon
I could barely sleep the night before, kinda like a little kid before Christmas! If you are a corgi owner or just a corgi lover you need to attend a corgi beach day at least once in your life! Upon first arriving you are asked to check in so they can get an accurate count or corgis, non- corgi dogs, and people. This years numbers were insane! I love that the money that was made was all donated to a good cause!
Throughout the day there were different events to attend. We participated in the costume contest! I have never seen so many creative costumes on corgis! There was even a chihuahua dressed up like a corgi! The costume contest was in four different categories: corgi and owner couples costume, beach themed, food themed, and anything goes. We dressed Minnie like a banana and my husband dressed in a full body suit monkey costume!
Later in the day they had meet and greet with famous corgis. There were corgi races! Which I don’t know if you have ever seen them, but watching a group of corgis run is HILARIOUS! Don’t miss this event! Don’t miss any of it if you are a true corgi lover! Even if you don’t own a corgi find the nearest corgi beach day to you and make it happen! You won’t regret it! Also its an inexpensive family fun day!
