10 Places You MUST Visit in Vancouver, BC

Stanley Park

Stanley Park was by far one of my favorite places we visited in Vancouver. You could seriously spend an entire day here! It reminded me a lot of Central Park in NYC. Except all of BC is beautiful and green and so it doesn’t have the novelty of Central Park being in the middle of skyscrapers. However, it is beautiful and you could explore this park for days and still not see all it has to offer.

Found this cute well in Stanley Park!

Prospect Point

This is an outlook at Stanley Park but it is so cool that it deserves its own activity. Prospect Point is this outlook at the edge of the park that provides the BEST view of the city. I mean, I could have just stared at this view for hours. It is breathtaking! Vancouver City Scape is 10/10 for sure.

The Vancouver Aquarium

Okay, Tyrell and I love aquariums, zoos, science museums, and discovery centers. When we travel we are like little kids. We always try to find at least one of these places to visit in each new city. The Vancouver Aquarium is one of our favorites we have ever been to! They do shows with the animals all day long which is so neat. We saw dolphins flip and seals catch fish. Also, the whole aquarium (and most of BC) focuses on ways we can positively impact our environment. I think that by having a fun and interactive way for kids to learn about ocean pollution is a phenomenal idea! So cheers to them, and let’s all save the oceans.

Met this guy at the aquarium!

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

Tree top adventures at its finest! We went here of course because I wanted to walk across the suspension bridge; but we ended up getting so much more! They have a great diner and souvenir shop with some of the best souvenirs we found. Then the actives include a trail attached to the side of the mountain, the suspension bridge, and a tree top adventure! The tree top adventure was probably our favorite. It was a series of bridges and platforms connecting the trees so that you could literally walk through the top of the forest!

Walking across the suspension bridge!

Quarry Rock

This was actually an accident that we found this hike. We had some extra time before an event and were just exploring. When we saw everyone walking on the same trail we decided to check it out. This trail ended up being a hike and neither of us were dressed properly. But we decided to keep going and the view at the top was so worth it!! The down side is how many people are there but I would still do it again. This hike is located in Deep Cove, just outside of Vancouver, which is definitely an area you need to check out!

When I say we weren’t prepared for a hike, I mean it. Yes, I hiked to the top of this mountain in jeans and a white furry vest.

Deep Cove

See what I did there? That was a great transition! Okay, Deep Cove is this little lake side town with the cutest restaurants and some great hikes. But my favorite part? Kayaking!! Is anyone surprised? If you are in Deep Cove you have to take the opportunity to rent some kayaks and explore the lake a bit. I kayak almost every weekend in Idaho but that was beautiful new area to explore and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys time on the water with a stunning view. And seriously, even on bus it took us less than hour to get here from Downton Vancouver. We heard is only like 25 minutes in a car!

Granville Island

Granville reminded me a lot of Seattle, WA except a million times better. There are some of the best restaurants in this part of town and it is perfect for walking around and shopping! They also have a kids center and a ton of art features! We mostly just walked around and window shopped but I loved every second of our time here. It is an older area but it has so much to offer!

The Keg in Granville has some of the BEST food we ate in Vancouver!

Granville Island Public Market

I told you that Granville reminded me of Seattle and big reason is because of the public market! Again, a million times better than Seattle. I have this as its own activities because you could spend hours at this market! And spend all your money if you are anything like me. There is amazing food, beautiful produce, art, clothing, jewelry, and more! It has so much to offer and the quality is superior to what we could have expected. BC steps everything up a notch we felt like!

Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge

If you don’t make it to Capilano, you should at least try to make it to Lynn Canyon! This is a free suspension bridge but it doesn’t come with all of the other actives as Capilano. However, it is still a very neat experience to walk across a canyon on a suspension bridge like this one! This is a great experience if you are on a budget or have a large group. You can also catch it at times without so many people which is an awesome perk. It is a little ways outside of Vancouver so just plan for travel time!

Sunset Beach

Last but certainly not least, check out the beaches! We visited Sunset Beach and I fell in love with the view. And yes we were there at sunset and it was phenomenal. However, I know that the other beaches are just as gorgeous! I feel so much calmer and safer when I have my toes in the sand. It is seriously my happy place and I feel like nothing could ever go wrong. So if you are anything like me, take advantage of the beautiful sandy beaches in British Columbia!

  2. I visited most of these spots in Vancouver about 5 years ago and I absolutely loved them. Such a great place – I’d loved to visit again!

  3. I am obsessed with Vancouver, my brother and this family live there and I love visiting (and hopefully will live there at some point). Granville Island Public Market is this foodie’s total happy place.
